The anti-diabetic allopathic drugs (eg: metformin, biguanide, phenformin etc) decrease blood sugar level, but produce more side effects. The poly herbal capsules were formulated by using the herbal drugs as mentioned in the siddha literature without side effects. The anti diabetic activity and quality standards were proven by in-vitro assays and quality control parameters respectively. The TLC profile was carried out for different extract and Rf values have been reported. HPTLC was carried out for one raw drug and quantified the active principles with marker compounds. The physico-chemical screening showed in presence of Alkaloids, Carbohydrates, Flavonoids, and Glycosides. The ethanolic extract was prepared by using the six herbal drugs without excipients and used for MTT assay and glucose uptake assay. Our future aim is to in-vivo assay using animal models and the safety of the formulation in animals will threw light in commercial usage of the drug.
